A long plank table stands empty except for a rumpled white cloth and a single wine glass with a last inch of red in it. Rush-seated chairs are pulled out at odd angles all around, wine rings and stains mark the boards, and light comes in from a window at the right. Lunch is over, and the table is the only one who remembers all of it.
