A dried umbel leans to the left on a pale, ridged stalk, its thin spokes ending in papery husks and a few ribbed brown seeds. One seed hangs out to the right on its own stem, and a soft grey shadow blots across the white beneath. All that is left of the summer is this, and it smells better than you would think.
