Two long stems of Italian ruscus lie diagonally across a pale plank table, pointed leaves alternating the length of each stem. Light comes from the upper left and lays the leaf shadows out in violet across the wood, the grain and old stains showing through underneath. Cut to length and set aside, the part of the bouquet nobody will mention.
