Chef's Table

The weight of a wooden spoon, the curl of a lemon peel, grains scattered across a counter. The small moments in a kitchen, where flavor begins long before the first bite.

This collection lingers in the small, essential moments of the kitchen: the weight of a wooden spoon, the curl of lemon peel, the soft scatter of grains across a counter. Sixty watercolor-inspired illustrations follow the rhythms of preparing food by hand, chopping, stirring, seasoning, tasting.

There is warmth here, and patience. Flavors unfold slowly. Light pools across metal bowls and ceramic edges. Ingredients are allowed to be imperfect and alive. Rather than styled scenes, Chef's Table offers fragments: honest, elemental details that call up memory, appetite and care.

In The Annual, Volume One, pages 230 to 239.

Many of the illustrations in this collection are available as prints. If the one you love isn't there yet, write to me.
