One peony lies open on white, coral at the outer petals and fading to cream and butter yellow at the center where the gold stamens sit exposed. A soft violet shadow pools behind it and a single drop of coral falls away below. Coral peonies change color as they open, so nobody who buys one gets quite what they saw.
