Three Iceland poppies rest on a sheet of crumpled kraft paper, the petals thin enough that light comes straight through them in apricot and pale gold, stems crossing in a loose knot below. Their shadows fall dark and wet onto the paper and drip off the creases. Poppies are sold in bud because open they last about a day.
